Election and Proposition 2
Here in Texas , in the elections yesterday, proposition 2 passed, unfortunately. Proposition 2 is a constitutional amendment has been added to the state constitution that makes the only legal definition of marriage as marriage between and man and a woman. Of course around here it is more likely to be between and man (older good old boy) and a child (a young Texas big haired cheerleader marrying her sugar daddy.) I guess the concept of equality as defined by the US Constitution doesn’t apply among the morally righteous (in their minds anyway) Texans.
Of course it does make marriage technically legal between a man and another man assuming one is willing to go through a sex change operation. I wonder if anyone thought of that as a possible complication. If so they probably assumed that they could refer back to birth gender to invalidate the marriage.
Texas is obviously only going to be dragged into the pc reality of the 20th century kicking and screaming and by being convinced that sanctioning alternative lifestyles is in their best interest, and only after certain religious leaders have had convenient messages from appropriate pc higher beings.
Among the other propositions that passed was one which allowed a group of developers to land grab a bunch of eminent domain land in several counties on the assumption that their building developments will do the state far more good than all that land just laying around as public property and green space. Since the Texas legislature only meets once every two years, and that only if they really have to and can’t get their escape plans to Oklahoma in order, this one will allow for a constitutionally sanctioned two year free for all land developers throughout the state and will probably clog up the courts for years after it is eventually repealed. If and when.
Signs of Intelligence in PA
There has been a tremendous amount of controversy in certain school boards in PA about the required teaching of the theory of intelligent design with many parents arguing that it is in defiance of the separation of church and state, or the teaching of theology thinly disguised as biology. To quote the definition used in the arguments, “intelligent design holds that some aspects of nature are so complex they must be the work of an unnamed designer, rather than the result of random natural selection, as argued by Darwin's theory.” They were very careful not to define who or what the unnamed designer was but gave up when the parents all united behind the Spaghetti monster as the unnamed designer. Let’s hear it for some intelligence in the education system somewhere. Not here in Texas however where they still promote and accept the intelligent design theory in the schools. But they’re not teaching religion rather they are “allowing intelligent children appropriate educational options”. Right…..
