things are looking up

Phil came home from the hospital Saturday after being in for a week and a day with pancreatitis from an unexplained cause . His pancreas is still swollen and because of this he is in some pain but he seems to be able to keep it under control with medication and rest. He is also finally able to tolerate some solid food so things are looking better and better.
I had a glorious ride today- The heat and humidity have abated for a while so when I started out it was a lovely 80 degrees, sunny and actually dry enough to create a bit of static in the jersey. 50 miles later and two total play throughs of the entire Brandenburg Concertos later, pretty much confirmed why I love to ride. When the rides are good, they are very very good, and so far, the good ones outweigh to bad. Plus I got to stop off at my favorite local hangout/ coffe shop and enjoy a leisurely iced latte and a brown sugar scone.
After all the stress, worry and turmoil of the past couple of weeks, it was good to have a little time to recover.
Miss Ike, the kitten found in the parking garage, has been checked out and declared healthy and free of all diseases, parasites and health probelms with the exception of ear mites so she is currently ensconced in my workroom, reveling in more room, a window view and some room to romp and play with a catnip mouse, a sheepskin to sleep on, and frequent visits for cuddles. My three old guys are thoroughly disgusted with the whole turn of affairs and have taken to spending their days hunkered down outside the door, muttering threats of grave bodily harm in no uncertain terms, and then running away whenever I open the door to go in or come out.

today's ride stats

50.34 miles
3 hours 3 minutes
16.4 mph

Glad your hubby is doing better. Miss Ike sounds delightful! The old guys will adjust eventually and one or more may actually *play* with her sooner or later, but only if they think you don't see them. :D
