Sadie the Corgie and Miss Ike cuddling
After sporadically and rather half heartedly trying to find a new home for her, Miss Ike, a kitten I found curled up against the tire of my car on the third floor of the parking garage at Hermann Memorial Hospital, late on a Suday night, has joined our family.
My daughter predicted this although for the first few weeks of our housing her, I was pretty firmly convinced she needed to go to someone else. Part of what swayed my decision was her obvious devotion to Sadie the corgie, and part of it was a feeling that if she had managed to find my car to shelter against, she obviously needed to stay in the family. Be that as it may, she is currently being allowed to explore most of the house under supervised circumstances when I am around. She has been cleared medically of all kitty diseases, has begun her series of vacinations and is trying to make friends with the three older cats. Cappy seems intrigued and willing to play occasionally, and tolerate being jumped upon. After all he went through this with Tux 6 years ago. Jason prefers to be univolved and ususally retreats to our bed. Tux, as usual is distinctly bi polar in his reactions, at times allowing Miss Ike to jump on him, and at other times hissing and growling if she comes near.
Sadie, on the other hand, dotes on the kitty. She follows Miss Ike around to keep an eye on her, allows Miss Ike to love and head butt her for long periods and insists on licking and cleaning Miss Ike's face and ears several times a day. Miss Ike, who can boast the cleanest ears east of the rockies, takes it all in stride and in the rare moments when she is tired out, will seek out Sadie to cuddle with.
