I'm confused

During the recent cross country ride, one of my favorite riding activities was to read all of the church signs, especially those of the Baptist persuasion, for pithy or humorous (all be it unintentionaly, in most cases.) My riding partner Janet collected photographs of the better ones for her blog and I promised that once I was back in Houston, I would keep my eyes open and take pictures of those that seemed promising.
Coming home from buying a hammock for the SAG guy for Father's Day yesterday we came across the following sentiment. "Fathers are not an option, Jesus needs all his children." And there I was, without a camera, and confused. Admittedly I am not a religious person, at least in the conventional Christian/main stream/ white anglo saxon/ Protestant or Catholic sense of the word and my knowledge of workings and mechanics of the Father/Son/Holy Ghost/Virgin Mother/Holy Family is probably far from informed or current but here's my quandry.
Jesus is the son of God the Father and God the Father is father to us all. This puts Jesus in the roll of an good and godly older brother who interceeds for us his siblings. So who are his children. If we are all the children of Jesus, then who is God the Father to us and to Jesus, Grand Dad? I don't even want to go into the Holy Ghost/ Virgin Mother thing. This dual father or father/brother/caretaker question is enough for me.
It doesn't really matter in the long run but at least it gave me something to think about and toss around in my mind as I did my training ride this morning. Although I was on the road by 7:15 AM, the night time temperature hit a low of 79 last night so by the time the sun was even slightly above the horizon, it was already steamy hot. It was made hotter by the fact that there was not a breath of wind until about half way through the ride. I am seriously beginning about switching over to full time gym training for a while. I am also seriously questionning the sanity, or lack there of that included me signing up to do a century ride on July 19th. I was probably hallucinating a cooling spell.
