weather report

The weatherman last night was having a throes of ecstasy because the daytime high temperature has actually been below 90 degrees for seven days in a row. This hasn't happened since early May. It seems like much longer. Undoubtedly it will go back up before it goes down to stay, but in the meantime I'll take a daytime high of 85 over a daytime high of 95 any time.
As part of my cross training I have started trying some swimming. I haven't done any serious lap swimming since I was thirteen so the process is sort of like watching a cat in cement shoes try to swim but I am enjoying the splashing. It may not burn many calories but it seems to help loosen up the muscles.
I have found a new group of ladies to ride with. They are focused on distance more than speed although they keep a pretty brisk pace as well. They normally ride 2x a week and start at 6:30 A.M. to avoid school traffic, but because of various life issues among the group they aren'tt doing any rides this week. In a way it's a relief because it means that I can sleep in a bit tomorrow and still get in a ride on my own. If this group stuff continues, I may get spoiled so it's good that I have to ride alone now and then.
I hope the cooler weather continues through the weekend as we are scheduled to do a ride for charity on Sunday, and it would be lovely to do it in the cool rather than in the heat.
