braving the roads

The joke for the day is what do they call a bicycle rider in Sugar Land Texas? Answer, target practice for road kill.

I braved the roads on my bike today, not for the first time, but yet again. As part of my new scehdule I have joined a fitness club 3 miles downt the road. I figured the bike ride would allow me to prewarm and cool down and I can do a 30 minute fitness circuit, only in my case it's more like 45 minutes, and not lose out hours of my day. I enjoyed the work out but the riding there and back was a bit more thrilling than I had anticipated. The main problem was that because in Texas, everyone drives either a van, an SUV, a big ass truck or a hum vee, I was constantly being blown into the curb by the back draft of passing automobilia. The trucks seemed to take the most pleasure in trying to blow me out of the gutter, while the vans almost universally politely changed over to the left lane while they passed me. Does this say something about male vs female drivers. I don't know, maybe I was more visible to the van drivers.

The negatives were not enough to deter me from continuing with my fitness program but I may adjust my time to a less busy time traffic wise, if such a thing exists.

In the meantime I am taking the cooled down muscles off for a hot shower after which I will beat this program about the head and shoulders until I can get a picture of me and a lady llama named moonbeam posted.
