I have been busy weaving a Navajo tapestry for friends who are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. It came off of the loom this afternoon at 4 pm and the party is at 8:30. A bit closer than I had anticipated but we have also been having some lovely spring days, on the days the wind is not blowing gale force or the rain pouring down hard enough to flood the streets and drown the frogs so I have been getting in some bike time as well but that's another story. The weaving is 11" x 14" done at 14 epi and 24 weft per inch on a large cactus flower lap loom. It's not quite dense enough for true tapestry quality but close. The design is my own representing a white hogan in a silver field with banding and hat band beading to represent the wedding rings almost in the style of a wedding blanket. The wool is brown sheep lamb's pride bulky in black, natural and stone. I hope that they like it. Join | List | Previous | Next | Random | Previous 5 | Next 5 | Skip Previous | Skip Next |
Thoughts on weaving, spinning, knitting, fiber arts, distance road biking and life in general, especially life in Texas by a transplanted American fiber artist who has lived longer in the Netherlands than anywhere else.
