For the last three days I have been deeply involved in the concepts of sacred geometry as elements of design as they apply in tapestry weaving. Along with color theory, the use of golden rectangles and triangles and golden proportions, we also explored the more technical aspects of structuring angles, decreases, verticals, locked and dove tailed joins.
Yesterday we worked with color progressions, color blending with hachure and hatching and the derivation and use of Fibonachhi numbers and sequences. Today I spent the day trying to get copious pages of notes and sketches organized while catching up with laundry, groceries, housekeeping chores and email.
My best SAG guy and I also went out to dinner to celebrate our 34th anniversary. Not bad for a couple of old foggies.
My mind is mush, and many of the tapestry techniques we covered were ones which I probably won't be using all that often in my traditional Navajo weaving but the structural analysis of how various joins and angles work will be very useful. I can also see that the ideas and principles of geometry and and proportions will be making profound impressions on my design work. The color theory and progressions will also be making some appearances in my work. My mind is chewing on the sacred geometry and popping up random designs and concepts in endless little sketches.
I have three small tapestry samples to finish over the next week but I also will pick up my training schedule again.
Currently trekkie, my bike, is in the shop getting the pre-ride tune up, lubed and new road tires. I am hoping that it will be ready to go tomorrow for the first ride of the week.
Both my odometer and the pledge list have topped the magical number of 1000. The odometer has over 1000 miles and my pledge total is at 1200 dollars with still a few more promised pledges to come in.
Yay for each and every person who is showing their faith and trust in the fact that I can do this. Thank you one and all.
Although the training miles were short. The rest of the week was very rewarding.

I too have a personal trainer and 2 spinning wheels.
In May 2012, I will be cycling the Meandering Mississippi. I'm training in the highlands of Scotland.
