I have been training at the gym for three and half years and so have become somewhat of a fixture.
Recently my trainer offered me four free training sessions if I would submit a before and after picture of my progress, along with a brief motivational message, and let him put it up, along with several others near the drinking fountain between the men's and women's dressing rooms.
For four free training sessions it was a bargain so I dug through my files and found a photo of me looking fat, hot, out of shape and far from cheerful during my first ever distance bike tour along with a recent photo of me looking in much better shape, 80 pounds lighter and cheerful . I took these, along with a brief statement about how my 3 trainers had kept me motivated with increasingly challenging and different workouts, in and left them with my current trainer.
The photos and statements have been posted for about a month. Last week while staggering from one point to another in the gym behind Taylor, my trainer, I had three different people approach me and tell me "you're my hero". After I had managed to gasp my thanks, each of them also told Taylor that I was their "inspiration."
Taylor commented later that it was " pretty cool that I had my own set of groupies."
Note to self, consider a career as a television motivational speaker. Not!!!!
