Old Year Days' Ride with Phil

We diddled and we dawdled and finally the fog lifted a bit and the sun started to warm things up a bit so we got out and did a standard ride. I have been trying to get in a ride to check out the fit on my new bike seat but with the holiday rush and family and what not, the best I managed was a couple of forays around the block to mount and do rough adjusting on the seat. Whatever I did seems to work ok, at least based on today's ride. Of course by the time we were nearly done, the sun had broken through completely and it was warming up. It was a very nice ride, Phil sets a pace that is quick but not undoable (his spin classes are paying off) and although there was a bit of a headwind coming home, we took turns pulling so it wasn't bad. The flooding is pretty much cleared up in George Bush Park and the roads were mostly dry, although surprisingly busy.

As part of the end of year rituals, I have been changing out calendars and totaling various training logs etc. and have my approximate end of year stats.

Miles ridden 7521 plus another 200 miles at least on the trainer at the gym which I may or may not have counted.

Total hours ridden 600 or possibly higher because of biking/spin classes, recumbent bike at gym which I sometimes count and sometimes don't. Add to that another 100 hours more or less spent in working with a trainer.

The distance is up about 1500 miles from last year, thanks mostly to the cross country bike trip and riding with the Friday Ladies, and more recently the Pitts Road Crew. As far as riding time, I have to assume that is up as well although I didn't log it as religiously last year as I did this year and my speed hasn't improved that much. The gym time may be a bit lower because I haven't been quite as fanatical about putting in a minimum of three hours at a stretch.

All in all, not too shabby for an ageing lady.

Today's ride
30 miles
1 hour 55 minutes (including stop lights and traffic)
speed 15.4 mph
