news with little details

We are back in Houston after a successful double Ph.D. graduation and the wedding two days later of my oldest son and his fiancee. He got his Ph.D in math, she got hers in linguistics.

Phil's father has moved in with us to live and as a result we are buying a house in a suburb about 20 miles north of us called Katy.

Today we signed on the house and it is ours- or at least it will be when we pay off the mortgage- but until then we are possibly co owners with the mortgage company- but at least the title is in our name.

Tomorrow the packers come, Friday they move us, Saturday and Sunday we frantically ferry the remaining stuff, food, liquids, cleaning fluids etc from the old house to the new. We also pick up our three cats and dog along with Dads' dog from the boarding kennel where they have been since June 10,2010.

Monday, Dads' furniture arrives from Florida.

Tuesday I come back to the house here in Sugar Land to clean and muck.

Wednesday, I do the final walk through with the landlord.

All week I will be attempting to make it clear to the dogs and cats that this is the new abode, digging them out from under furniture, beds etc. long enough to feed them and make sure that they haven't managed to sneak out.

Unpacking continues ad infinitum but hopefully will be thinning out by the 4th of July weekend when both Phil and I have scheduled our nervous breakdowns.

more to follow.
