#7 Yazoo City to Indianola, MS

Today we rode to Indianola, home of B.B. King and cross roads of the Delta Blues.

It was another shortish and flat day through the Mississippi Delta, enlivened mostly by the periodic lane and a half wide traffic equipment, a lovely cypress swamp, and the town of Belzoni- Catfish Capital of the World, with a couple of fast food places and a couple of gas stations.

they even have a catfish museum

Belzoni coincided with our 40 mile SAG stop, but since the SAG vehicle had gone back down the road to help a couple of ladies with flat tires, we stopped in at the local quick mart gas station and Mickey D's and had an iced coffee. The Sag wagon passed and stopped for us about mile 45, just to make sure we had water and something to eat if we needed it. The life of a SAG driver is not easy, but all 4 of the SAG ladies seem to be handling it with humor or grace.

Aside from not knowing how to change a flat, and in one case, not even carrying a spare tube, it is pretty clear that although they may be good riders, and supposedly experienced, some of the ladies are not prepared for the type of independent riding called for on trhis sort of a cross country ride. Obviously they didn't bother or remember to read the counteous information sent out to each rider by Woman Tours. Several don't carry any sort of tire inflation device, be it hand pump or compressed nitrogen cylinders. I sure hope they are planning to blow up the tubes by mouth if they have a flat!

We got into the metropolis of Belzoni fairly early in spite of the rough pavement and the quartering headwind and found a Subway Store to have lunch in while we waited for the Best Western Blues Traveller Inn to have our rooms ready. No swim today because the pool is a distinctly grayish brown green tinge and there are things moving in it. Sometimes the accomodations are great and sometimes they aren't. At least they have internet and the beds are good.
